UFC 327 is headlined by one of the best fights of the year — Jirí Procházka returning to reclaim the belt against Carlos Ulberg, who has strung together nine straight wins inside the UFC. It’s the most interesting stylistic match-up the 205lb division has seen in a while. There’s a strong undercard too, with Costa vs Murzakanov and Pico vs Pitbull among the fights worth dissecting.

My UFC 327 predictions and picks for Procházka vs Ulberg are posted in the members area — that’s where I post the exact bets I’m placing myself. Below is a preview of the card and why it’s worth paying attention to.

What Makes This Card Worth Paying Attention To

Procházka vs. Ulberg — Vacant UFC Light Heavyweight Championship

Procházka is one of the more watchable fighters the division has seen. He won the belt by submitting Glover Teixeira in the fifth round in 2022 — a finish that came out of nowhere — then vacated due to a shoulder injury before he could defend it. He’s had losses since, including to Pereira, but the title went with him when he left through injury and this is his shot at getting it back.

Ulberg has been solid rather than spectacular on paper, but nine wins in a row inside the UFC is a real number. He’s beaten Błachowicz by decision and finished Reyes, and looked physically imposing doing it. Whether that level translates against Procházka is the question the market is trying to answer — and why the odds are as close as they are.

Pereira vacating to go after a third belt at heavyweight opened this up. It’s a genuine title fight between two fighters with legitimate claims, which doesn’t always happen at 205.

UFC 327 Undercard — Key Fights

Costa is moving up to light heavyweight to face Murzakanov, which adds an interesting wrinkle. He’s been away from the sport for a while and this is a bounce-back spot at a new weight class against a fighter who has looked very good inside the UFC. Murzakanov is 6-0 in the UFC and has finished everyone he’s faced. Costa at any weight brings danger, but he’s a question mark until he isn’t.

Pico vs. Pitbull is a fight I’ve been interested in since it was announced. Pitbull is 1-1 in the UFC now after beating Dan Ige on his second outing, and this is arguably the biggest test he’s faced in the promotion. Pico is the kind of fighter who can exploit a specific set of holes — whether Pitbull has those holes is what makes the matchup interesting rather than obvious.

Gastelum vs. Luque is two veterans running out of runway. Both have looked good and bad in recent years, both still carry finishing ability, and neither is in a position where they can afford to coast. Those fights tend to be entertaining and occasionally produce results that surprise the market.
